Easier nasal breathing thanks to Breathe-Implant

A great many people suffer from the consequences of a too narrow nose. The obstruction of nasal breathing has multiple consequences. By inserting the pre-shaped Breathe Implant, the nose is significantly and permanently widened at its narrowest point, the inner nasal valve. Breathing through the nose becomes much easier.

The widening of the endonasal air spaces allows the air to flow rather laminarly than turbulently. This reduces the resistance by the power of 3.

Easier nasal breathing means

Improved sleep quality

Sleep disturbances caused by nasal obstruction can be reduced. No more waking up due to a blocked nose or a sore throat caused by uninterrupted breathing through the mouth.

Snoring is a multifactorial process. A clear nose is always the first step to improvement. Reduced suctioning also reduces the risk of a soft tissue collapse in the area of the nasopharynx and oral pharynx. Nasal breathing eliminates provocative breathing through the mouth. Mouth breathing often makes the soft palate vibrate, which results in snoring. If, due to a sleep apnoea syndrome, mask breathing should ever become necessary at night, the nose needs to be clear before tolerance of such mask is achieved.

Patients with clear noses must apply less suctioning effort to pull air through the nose. This reduces the risk of a soft tissue collapse in the throat and has a positive effect on snoring reduction. Furthermore, a reduction of negative pressure in the area of the nasopharynx also reduces strain on the ears. We know that strong and fast suctioning of air through the nose, called "sniffing", puts negative pressure on the middle ears and can lead to numerous secondary diseases.

The air flow being laminar and not turbulent, the surface of the mucous membrane dries out less, which results in less crust formation. Nasal secretions (boogers), which are often a nuisance in the nasal cavity, can also be reduced, at least in part.

Viruses can get stuck much more easily in a narrow nose and trigger a cascade of nasal infections. Patients who have their noses widened say joyfully that they mostly have little or no colds during the winter. Even when an upper respiratory tract infection occurs, the nose can no longer cause a complete blockage as it used to.

By widening the nasal airways, not only viruses but also pollen and other allergy irritants are less likely to be absorbed by the nose. In a narrow nose, these particles get stuck in the mucous membrane. With an open nose, this happens much less often. Our patients say that their hay fever or other allergy reactions of the nose are much weaker since it has been operated on.

Once your nose is operated on, you no longer need to use harmful decongestant nose drops. Even when in lying position or having an infection, your nose remains open enough to dispense with the use of nose drops.

Less constriction and fewer infections automatically result in less nasal discharge. This is true both when blowing the nose and when discharging into the throat.

An open nose allows to breathe through the nose by day and by night so that breathing through the mouth is no longer necessary. This significantly reduces the strain on the throat. There are fewer throat infections and fewer infections of the lower airways such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Breathing is also easier for asthma patients. The unity of the upper and lower airways is now commonly referred to as "united airways". Thus, a relief for the nose is also a relief for the lungs.

Narrowed airways very easily lead to psychological distress. The fear of suffocation is a real threat to patients. We have repeatedly observed that free nasal breathing can make patients feel better also in psychological respect.

Clear nose and physical exercise

A lot of physical exercises require increased breathing. The way to healthy breathing is through the nose: moistening and warming the air to breathe prevents lung irritation, cold asthma, upper and lower respiratory tract infections. During maximum exertion, we all have to breathe through the mouth. However, there are a lot of endurance sports where athletes would rather breathe through the nose, but are unable to do so because of narrowed or suctioned nasal wings. Typical sports are cycling, biking, cross-country skiing, running, rowing, tennis and many more. Today, we can help all these people by significantly widening their noses on the inside and by stabilizing them with an extremely fine titanium implant (Breathe Implant).

Athletes who have their noses stabilized with Breathe implant show enormous improvement. They tell us to be more efficient and healthy since then. In the past, harmful mouth breathing led to throat irritation and respiratory problems, which can now be avoided. However strong inspiration may be, the nose no longer collapses but remains firmly open. This is particularly pleasant for endurance athletes (runners, cyclists, cross-country skiers, etc.).
